How do I get started?

You can see the list of available trainings below. Simply click on the name of the class. When it asks you if you want to enroll in the class, select “yes.” The introduction to each class will tell you how long to expect a particular unit to take, as well as telling you what computer equipment and supplies you will need.

Available Courses

Helping suicidal or self-harming callers
Audience: New rape crisis hotline volunteers. May also be appropriate for more experienced volunteers or employees.
Duration: Approx. 2 hours, not including live roleplay with instructor.

In this course, students will develop the skills they need to help hotline callers who may be having thoughts about suicide or are at risk for harming themselves.
Self-care
Audience: New volunteers (may also be suitable for experienced volunteers or employees)
Duration: 1 hour

This training was designed with new rape crisis hotline volunteers in mind. Employees and more experienced volunteers can benefit from this training but may find that some of the wording does not fit their situation. This training should take about an hour, although if you put a lot of thought into the exercises, it may take somewhat longer.
Lesson Plan: Helping suicidal or self-harming callers
Audience: New rape crisis hotline volunteers (can be adapted for other audiences).
Duration: 2 hours

In this section you will find everything that you need to conduct our training on helping suicidal or self-harming callers in your own center.
